Often times, when describing the Keyshot rendering process to clients, I would emphasize how the materials and color ways we’re showcasing to them can easily be interchanged to showcase different emotions and feelings that a product may bring a user. For my tech savvy gaming clients, I would mention it’s like creating your own custom avatar, but with their product.
To designer, Keyshot is a magical tool that helps clients understand and put product development and depth to what, how, where, and who their product is going to serve.
I wasn't always good at KeyShot. Imperfections were my companions, rendering after rendering. Especially in college, when you wouldn’t know the final outcome of your renders for a couple of hours to days after pressing the rendering button. But here's the secret: each flawed attempt was a building block, a lesson etched into the pixels.
I would say, my skills rendering didn’t fully develop until I landed my first job where tutorials became my mentors. Watching was the starting point, doing was the journey. Once I became full with rendering knowledge, I began to showcase it into my daily practice. Hours in the rendering lab, tweaking, adjusting, and understanding the 'why' behind every move. It’s also extraordinarily helpful to consistently be receiving constant feedback from your peers, especially after looking at rendering frames all day long.
Fast forward to today. Armed with a trusty KeyShot toolset, I’m no longer just clicking buttons; I'm telling design stories. The once-mysterious materials? Is now my playground to manipulate. It's the evolution from "What does this button do?" to crafting intricate design details with a confident click.
